A new AA Ireland survey shows that 80% of drivers would rely less on their vehicle if public transport was improved in the country.
Of those polled, 42% say they live in a rural area, while 58% say they live in an urban area.
With over 4200 people responding the data shows a great rural/urban divide with only 8 percent of people in rural areas saying they have access to public transport compared to 47 percent of thoses living in an urban setting.
The study show people want an improvement to public transport infrastructure, extra services, cheaper fares.
While another AA Ireland study shows a slight decline in fuel prices the pumps over the last few weeks.
