CSO Figures Shows House Prices Are Back To Boom Times

House prices in 2022 have equaled the peak of the boom value of April 2007 according to figures published today by the Central Statistics Office.

The index increased by 14.1% in the 12 months to June 2022, with prices in Dublin rising by 11.8% and prices outside Dublin up by 16.0%

House prices in the Mid-West (Clare, Limerick, Tipperary) increased by 11.9% while the increase was highest in the Border region which saw increases of 20.1%

In June 2022, 4,087 dwelling purchases by households at market prices were filed with the Revenue Commissioners.  The median price of a dwelling purchased in the 12 months to June 2022 was €290,000. The lowest median price for a house in the 12 months to June 2022 was €140,000 in Longford, while the highest median price was €605,000 in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. The median price in County Tipperary is €186,000.

Existing dwellings accounted for 3,308 (80.9%) of the dwelling purchases filed with the Revenue Commissioners in June 2022, while the balance of 779 (19.1%) were new dwellings.
