The Fianna Fáil TD for Tipperary, Jackie Cahill has defended his performance in respect of supporting the fight for services for those with disabilities especially children.
He clarified that he had attended the online meeting organised by FUSS Ireland on Tuesday evening. He said that he had attended for 45 minutes before returning to a meeting he had left to attend the FUSS meeting. FUSS stands for Families Unite for Services and Support. There are approximately 2,000 children attached to the 4 Children’s Disability Networks in Tipperary.
Deputy Cahill has today expressed his disappointment at what he said appears to be a highly inaccurate representation of attendance at this meeting.
The Thurles based TD pointed out that he had promoted the meeting on his social media channels, and wanted the public to know that he had attended.
Deputy Cahill said he had worked with many families struggling to access services and had organised for local school child, Cara Darmody, to meet with the Taoiseach about the lack of services and her family’s experience. He committed to working with anyone who wishes to secure better services and said that the issue was too important to be used as a political football.
