Trifol Resources Limited, based in Littleton, Co. Tipperary has secured a grant of €3 million from the European Union LIFE Programme.
The company is involved in research in respect of recycling waste plastics and producing wax products.
TRIFOL was assisted in its application for the EU grant aid by the advisory firm MAGFI and a number of international partners including DOW Chemicals Netherlands, Whirlpool International, Bord na Móna and Process Facility Group International – consulting engineers in Cork.
The company is led by Pat Alley, a serial entrepreneur who previously worked with Glanbia and founded Advanced Environmental Solutions (AES) Waste Management company in 2000 – this company was sold to Bord na Mona for ~€64m in 2007.
The company is also researching the production of green hydrogen as a replacement for fossil fuel in the transport and logistics sector in Ireland. One of the goals of TRIFOL under this project is also to establish TRIFOL as a Pyrolysis Centre of Excellence in Littleton. The investment has been supported and welcomed by Tipperary TD Michael Lowry.
