1539

Construction works are underway at the premises known as Irish House on Main Street, Tipperary.

The work is being undertaken by Abercorn Developments Limited and will see the adaption of the first and second floors to provide 6 apartments.

The ground floor is to be used to provide pedestrianisation access, potential commercial use and separate storage areas ancillary to the residential use.

The building is a Registered Protected Structure in the Tipperary Development Plan 2013.

The Irish House was once a technical school on the Main Street of Tipperary Town, and was home to a discount retail store from the mid 1990s. In recent years, the premises have been vacant, and prone to a considerable degree of disrepair and deterioration. The building is generally considered to be a historical site within the town.

The company is also involved in regeneration works at the former Glove Factory premises on James Street,
