Government funding of €3.1million has been announced today to expand the “My Open Library” service nationwide. €72,270 has been made available to roll out the service in Cashel Library. The service is currently operating in Nenagh Library.

My Open Library allows library users to access the library outside of normal hours on a self-service basis. Three other libraries are expected to begin offering the service soon – funding had previously been announced and the system is undergoing testing at present. These are Tipperary Town, Carrick on Suir and Roscrea.
When operating users will have access to the library between the hours of 8am and 10pm, seven days a week.

The funding announcement has been welcomed by Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill as a benefit for all ages with both young and old able to enjoy the flexible options the service provides when operational.
