The Battle for Tipperary Town will be the subject of a talk to be held in the Gallery Space at the Tipperary Excel Centre on Thursday July 28th.
The event is held as part of the Decade of Centenaries to mark the centenary events relating to the Civil War.
The Battle for Tipperary Town took place between July 28th and July 30th 1922.
The talk will be given by noted local historian Dr Des Marnane and will commence at 8pm.
Those wishing to attend this free event are asked to register in advance by visiting reception in the Excel Centre or by telephone at 062 80520.
A striking poster for the event created by local printers Fitzpatrick’s on Davis Street represents the Free State and Republican sides with images of Paddy O’Connor (on horseback) and Paddy Dalton. Dr Marnane has recently published “The Civil War in County Tipperary” with Mary Guinan Darmody.
