Progress is being made on plans to include the Rock of Cashel in the World Heritage Tentative List for Ireland following approval from an expert review panel.
Heritage sites in the Premier County along with Sligo, Kerry, Kildare, Westmeath, Roscommon and Meath are to be included on a new Tentative List.
This list is a collection of natural and cultural heritage sites that may have potential to demonstrate Outstanding Universal Value and are expected to be suitable for nomination to the World Heritage List.
The development is expected to lead to a major boost in promoting the county as a tourism destination.
The Rock of Cashel is part of a collective of locations in the country to be known as the Royal Sites of Ireland.
