Full Details Of Cashel’s Extensive Public Realm Released

Details of the extensive public realm works planned for Cashel town can now be viewed on the council website at www.tipperarycoco.ie .

The plans are also on display in Cashel Library and council offices in Clonmel, Nenagh and Tipperary Town.

Submissions on the proposal can be made until 4.300m on September 6th. The detailed planning documentation can be viewed here

Here The project will impact several parts of the town including Main Street, and areas of Moor Lane, Friar Street, Bank Street, John Street, Lower Gate Square, Commandant PJ Hogan Square, Wesley Square, Agar’s Lane, Maher’s Lane, and Greenhouse Lane pedestrian Access lanes between Main Street to Friar Street Car Park. 

The plan will involve:

changes to traffic flow at Moor Lane,

pedestrianisation of the Back of The Pipes area,

changes to parking spaces,

5 new canopies on the Plaza,

a new layout for the Plaza and refurbishment of the fountain.

 There will be extensive changes to the street and footpath layout with use made of shared space between vehicles and pedestrians and raised tables on the road surface to alert vehicles.

All electrical wires will be undergrounded.

Significant new signage is also planned and a new bus shelter will be installed on the north side of Main Street.
