Killeen National School, outside Riverstown near Roscrea is to see an expansion in the coming months.
The tender is now to be issued for an extension following approval by the Department of Education.
The works will include a mainstream classroom and adjoining en-suite bathroom, and an SET classroom being constructed on site.
The news has been welcomed by Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill who says it will greatly enhance educational infrastructure in this rural part of the county.
Deputy Cahill has congratulated school management on their successful application and thanked Education Minister Norma Foley for her support.
