Co Tipp School Children/Teacher Ratio The Best In Munster

There’s a 22.1 children per teacher on average in the classroom in Co Tipperary, which is best in Munster according to new data.

The Department of Education data shows that primary schools in Limerick and Cork both have a 23.1 ratio while its 22.2 in Clare and it’s slightly better at 22 children to a teacher in Kerry.

The worst ratio in Munster is Waterford which has a 23.4 ratio.

Ireland remains above the EU average of 20 pupil per class and the OECD (21) with it standing at 24 per classroom.

Nationally Mayo is the best performer with 20.9 pupils while County Dublin continues to struggle with demand with an average of 24 to 1 ratio.
