The National Lottery today announced the 35 national finalists for the National Lottery Good Causes Awards 2022.
There is no representative from Tipperary in the final selection – Cahir GAA club, Cloughjordan Community Circus and North Tipperary Community Services had been shortlisted amongst 118 county finalists.
Down Syndrome Limerick Youth Club from County Limerick has been selected as one of the 35 finalists and will now receive €1,000 and a hand crafted trophy. The club is selected in the Youth category.
The Club was founded in 2019 and is a club for children with Down syndrome aged 11 to 18 years.
They meet once a week in person or online and enjoy games, dancing, quizzes, singing, baking, and hearing each other’s news.
Being part of a group has given these young people a sense of belonging, of identity and pride.
The finals take place on October 1st and each category winner will receive €10,000 and the overall Good Cause of the Year will take home an additional €25,000.
