Today is the official opening of the new look Liberty Square in Thurles.
Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage Peter Burke will attend.
Invitations will be issued to all of the local residents by Thurles MD and Thurles Chamber will be contacting the businesses on the Square and inviting them.
The event is scheduled to start at noon.
The Liberty Square enhancement project involved the demolition of a building on Liberty Square to allow access to an expanded carpark, new paving on the Square itself and reduction in lanes for vehicles.
Parking capacity on the Square was also reduced.
All cabling was undergrounded with new lighting fixtures and planting installed.
The project cost an estimated €10.5 million.
Plans are also well advanced for the West End of Liberty Square to be upgraded in the coming months.
