A local county councillor says insurance costs are having a negative impact on community events.
Andy Moloney says currently council grants are being swallowed up by high insurance premiums with no actual money left over for the event.
The Cahir based councillor says the situation is pure madness, that people can walk down the street any day of the week and are insured however on st Patrick’s day organisers need to have separate insurance to march through the town.
The council will write to Minister responsible for insurance Sean Fleming on the matter.
