Planning permission has been granted for the redevelopment of Boherlahan Community hall.
The council attached 12 conditions to the permission. The project is being led by a company representing the community.
The existing hall will be demolished along with the adjoining play yard of the Primary school and a new hall constructed on the site.
A new carpark with 17 spaces will also be provided in addition to a new school play shelter.
In 2020 a fund of 2 million euros was to be made available for 4 projects in the parish of Boherlahan and Dualla via the Immigrant Investor Programme which allows people to obtain residency in Ireland in return for providing investment towards improving community facilities.
The scheme is administered by the Department of Justice.
Due to the size of the redevelopment and increases in construction costs, a revised development submission has now been approved by the Department of Justice.
The Department’s IIP scheme will be the main source of funding for the development.
The development work will commence after the necessary additional investors have been confirmed.
The existing hall remains available for community use.
