The new road layout at the O’Brien Street Junction in Tipperary Town is causing concern following an incident on Monday night.
A HGV travelling out of Tipperary Town struck the canopy of a former petrol station.
The new layout saw the removal of a temporary roundabout and a staggered junction installed instead.
Responding to the incident on Monday night, Councillor Anne Marie Ryan has asked the council to review the junction.
Councillors Tony Black and Anne Marie Ryan had engaged with local community members in the redesign of the junction to provide a shared space for both pedestrians and vehicles.
Cllr Ryan said that in the absence of a bypass, trucks have to use the junction and that if it is not working, then it will have to be fixed.
Council engineers have given assurance that tracking measurement had been taken when designing the junction to ensure proper functionality.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
Tipperary Mid West Radio has contacted Tipperary County Council for comment but no response was received at the time of publishing.
