Drivers Urged To Be Cautious Due To Heavy Snowfall

Gardaí in Co. Tipperary are urging motorists to be cautious as heavy snowfall is leading to hazardous road conditions.

According to listeners Cashel, Tipp Town, Bansha, New Inn, Kildorrery, Mount Bruis, Cappawhite, Monard, Fethard, Kilfeacle and Rosegreen are experiencing high levels of snow.

There’s reports of icy conditions on the M8 near Cahir also.

The Road Safety Authority is advising drivers to check their tyres, clear their winds screen/mirrors, check/use your lights appropriately , manoeuvre gently, slow down and leave extra distance between you and the driver in front and be aware of potential for black ice.

The organisation says if people don’t need to be out on the road they should avoid it during these weather conditions.

A yellow rain warning is in place for Tipperary and wintry showers are expected until 7pm tonight.
