Met Éireann Issue Status Yellow Weather Warning for Ireland

Met Éireann have issued a status yellow wind warning for the entire country.

The weather warning comes into effect from noon today (Wednesday) until 11.30pm on Wednesday night.

The warning comes as storm Dudley approaches Ireland bringing westerly winds with speeds of 50 – 65km/h with damaging gusts of 80 – 100km/h.

The winds will be stronger on exposed coasts and Derry and Antrim are expected to take the worst of the winds.

A second storm, storm Eunice is expected to hit Ireland on Friday.

Storm Eunice will track up over Ireland on Thursday night and during the early part of Friday, bringing with it the potential for severe winds countrywide.

It also has the potential to bring falls of snow in the northern half of the country.
