There was further good news for Tipperary town today in respect of a funding allocation to support the work of the Revitalisation Task Force.

Last week the town saw an allocation of over €500,000 for local schools, sports clubs and the Canon Hayes Recreation Centre.

A package of €242,000 has been announced today for a Social Inclusion Coordinator for Tipperary Town.

The Tipperary Town Revitalisation Task Force had made a special presentation about the issue when Minister Heather Humphreys visited the town in November.

The funding will be provided by the Department of Rural and Community Development, Tipperary County Council, and South Tipperary Development Company.

The role is seen as an important first step in driving the Task Force’s Social Inclusion Programme forward.

This action is identified as a priority action in the upcoming TTR TF Strategy and Action Plan, as it aims to work with existing service providers to enhance resources and tackle the high rates of deprivation and disadvantage that have long affected the town.

Carmel Fox, Chairperson of the TTR TF has welcomed the news and noted the collaboration that has taken place among the various stakeholders to get to this point.

Recruitment is expected to commence in the coming weeks with the coordinator hoped to be

appointed in April 2022 for a three-year period.
