Tipperary Town Chamber in collaboration with the Municipal District Council is hoping to stage a St Patrick’s Day event in the Market Yard area on March 17th.
People are being encouraged to make proposals for the event and if possible to attend a meeting scheduled for the Porter House on Thursday evening at 7pm.
Volunteers to help steward the event are also being sought. Insurance costs, funds to run a parade, time to plan and the reluctance of some groups to participate were all cited as reasons for the new format in 2022.
Chamber Chairman, Joe Hayes says that it is unlikely a virtual parade would go ahead in 2022 as energies are concentrated on the Market Yard Static celebration of St Patrick’s Day.
Cashel is also planning a static event in the Plaza while, Roscrea, Clonmel, Cahir and Carrick on Suir have opted for traditional parades. Thurles has decided to hold a virtual event again this year following the production by Cruthaigh in 2021.
