The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation continue to call for urgent action in respect of patients on trolleys.

The INMO trolley watch reveals that 603 patients are without a bed in Irish hospitals today.

This is the highest number of patients on trolleys since 4th February 2020.

Limerick University hospital reported a total of 71 people experiencing delayed admission – 30 were on trolleys while 41 had been accommodated somewhere throughout the hospital,  Cork reported 58 patients on trolleys , While Galway has 46 patients on trolleys.

Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel reported 16 patients on trolleys this morning.

The Nurse and mid wife union has now called for the Emergency Department Taskforce to be convened and for emergency measures to be deployed in the areas worst hit. The union says that if non-emergency services need to be curtailed in order to allow the HSE and hospital groups to get a handle on out of control trolley figures then that must be done.
