The government is to examine the possibility of easing restrictions for people who are deemed COVID-19 close contacts.
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has changed its advice to allow for shorter isolation periods where there is extreme pressure on healthcare systems and society.
However the updated advice from E-C-D-C comes with the warning that it is not evidenced based.
The Taoiseach says he understands the pressures on many parts of the economy as a result of the current rules.
