New Jobs For Tipperary Town As Kontex Cyber Security Expand

Cybersecurity firm Kontex have announced the creation of 75 new jobs today, with the Tanáiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar making the announcement.   

Kontex is an Irish owned company with global operations.  The roles will be split between Tipperary town and Dublin. The company previously had approximately 25 staff located in Tipperary Town prior to the pandemic. These staff adopted a remote mode of working. The company are now said to be searching for a new larger premises.  The company is headed by Patrick O’Callaghan, from Tipperary town  and has an ever-growing international presence where they serve global and local clients.  Kontex are recruiting across several cybersecurity domains including Information Governance, Cloud Architecture,  Services, Incident Response, Data Analytics and Security Engineering. In addition some of the new roles will be in Finance and HR management.

The Tánaiste said, “Recent events have been a stark reminder of the need to protect our digital information and systems. Businesses and organisations must always be one step ahead.  Firms like Kontex provide leadership and expertise, helping us protect against cybercrime. These 75 new jobs in Dublin and Tipperary are a real boost and will draw upon the experienced pool of talent we have here in Ireland.  I am particularly pleased that some of these jobs are in Tipperary Town as the town has really struggled in recent years. This is a sign of hope.”

The company which was founded in 2015, currently employs 55 cybersecurity professionals and is headquartered in Dublin.  Patrick O’Callaghan, founder and managing director said “Kontex is on track to become one of the leading providers of specialist security services in Europe”.  “We aim to expand our team to better meet a growing need to help enterprises solve complex cybersecurity challenges in a rapidly evolving threat landscape. More than 30 roles are currently open with Kontex for people with a variety of educational and professional qualifications. The company expansion has been entirely funded by the company owners with no State support via Enterprise Ireland.
