The Abbey School, Arravale Rovers GAA Club & Arravale Ladies Gaelic Football Club have launched a joint partnership in developing a Floodlit AstroTurf Pitch measuring 88m x 55m on the Abbey grounds, between the new PE Hall and the railway line, next door to Arravale Rovers GAA Grounds.
The project is described as a “win win” for both school and club.
To date planning permission has been secured and finances raised. To date 50% of the cost of the project has been secured through the Erasmus Smith Trust Fund and the Tomer Trust.
The promoters have thanked Cllr Michael Fitzgerald and Deputy Jackie Cahill TD for their assistance.
Representatives from both Arravale Rovers and the Abbey have submitted a further application to the Sports Capital Programme for funding and it is hoped that works to complete the project will commence in 2022.
To complete the fundraising effort a Golf Classic is to be co-hosted by the school and Arravale Rovers in September and any help or support is most welcome – further details will be available over the coming weeks.
