A travel bubble between Australia and New Zealand opened yesterday.

Passengers will not be required to undergo mandatory testing or have proof of vaccination – but anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms will not be allowed to board. However, passengers will be required to wear masks during flights and agree to sign up to a contact tracing app.

The trans-Tasman travel bubble, which will allow the residents of both countries to travel without hotel quarantine, officially launched on Monday. Emotional scenes were observed in airports such as Sydney, Auckland and Melbourne as families reunited after more than a year of international border closures.
