Funding totaling almost €3.3 Million for Housing Adaptation Grants for Older People and People with a Disability has been announced for Co. Tipperary.
The fund, which supports home adaptations for older people, those with a disability and people with mobility issues, will result in grants of up to €30,000 to assist people with a disability to carry out necessary works to make their house more suitable for their needs, as well as €8,000 to assist older people to make necessary repairs or improvements for their needs. The fund will also allow up to €6,000 for mobility aids.
The funding announcement has been welcomed by Deputy Michael Lowry and Senator Garret Ahearn, with Mr. Lowry saying that it will provide a support for older people and those with a disability to live independently, and also provide a boost to local economies; creating employment for local contractors.
