Meals on Wheels services in Tipperary Town resumed on Tuesday, 19th January, thanks to an amazing community response. Due to the unforeseen temporary closure of Tipperary Town Community Centre, for health and safety reasons, it was feared that a large number of people who depend on the Meals on Wheels service in the community would suffer as a result.

However, Brian Rafferty, Chairperson of the Tipperary Town Community Services, put out a call for help on Monday, and was not left wanting. Tipperary Town businesses “The Town House Deli” and “French Quarter Café” have provided food, while some of their staff members have volunteered as drivers.

Members of the public have also offered their help to deliver meals to the approx. 40 individuals who depend on the service for a nourishing, hot meal every day. Martin Browne, TD, also engaged with Cashel Community Services, who are providing starters and desserts for the service, while the Centre remains closed.
