The Freight Transport Association is appealing to the public to stop stockpiling goods as it will place unnecessary pressure on the supply chain.
The organisation says that the nation’s supply chain is resilient and well equipped to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic and that there is no need to stockpile food and other basic items.
The FTAI, which is a trade association for the Irish freight, passenger and logistics industries has said that ‘as a nation, we should deal with this pandemic calmly and remain considerate of others’.
Retail Excellence has also said that all of the major grocery multiples and forecourt operators in Ireland have assured them that they are prepared to continue to supply all grocery outlets for the coming months.
