How to self-isolate if you live with other people

922
  • Stay in a room with a window you can open.
  • If you can, use a toilet and bathroom that no one else in the house uses.
  • If you have to share a bathroom with others, think about setting up a bathroom rota.
  • You can use the bathroom last and then clean it thoroughly.
  • Do not share any items you’ve used with other people. These include:
    • dishes
    • drinking glasses
    • cups
    • eating utensils
    • towels
    • bedding
  • If possible, use a dishwasher to clean and dry cutlery. If this is not possible, wash them by hand using detergent and warm water. Dry them thoroughly, using a separate tea towel.
  • Do not share phones or remote controls. After using them, clean them with a disinfectant wipe.
  • Place laundry in a plastic bag and wash it if the tests for coronavirus are negative.
  • If the test is positive, you will be told what to do with your laundry by a public health doctor.

Note that “self-isolation” is different from “self-quarantine”.
