Saturday opening hours at library move a step closer

The prospect of Tipperary Town Library opening on Saturdays has moved a step closer after councillors were told of an initiative that could make it happen.

Councillors were told at last week’s meeting of the local authority that the Tipperary Town Library has been prioritised to be included in the second phase of the Department of Rural and Community Development’s ‘Open Libraries’ initiative, and it hoped that this could facilitate Saturday opening in Tipperary town.

The news has been welcomed by March4Tipp councillor, Annemarie Ryan who has noted that this development follows confirmation in recent weeks that the weekday opening hours of the Library are to be extended later this year.
