Councillors on the Cashel/Tipperary Municipal Council are to ask for one of their representatives to be included on the Tipperary Town Centre Forum.

At yesterday’s local authority meeting, it was noted that a range of local groups and organisations are represented on the forum, which forms a key part of the Vision and Plan of Action for Tipperary town, but elected representatives have been excluded.

The matter was raised by Cllr Roger Kennedy who claimed that the action plan ‘is a compilation of all the motions put down by the council’ over the years. He went on to outline his dissatisfaction with hearing ‘second hand’ information about the activities of the forum.

His point was supported by a number of members of the council, including Cllr Mary Hannah Hourigan and Cllr Michael Fitzgerald.

District Administrator Marie McGivern said in response that she didn’t think there would be any objection to such a request, which will now be made.
