ESB crews from Cavan and Monaghan were today called in to assist crews in Co Tipperary in restoring the electricity supply to thousands of customers.
Speaking to Tipperary Mid West Radio this morning, Ger Denihan of ESB Networks said that crews from areas where damage to the electricity network was minimal were being dispatched to areas where the need for additional support was greatest.
Mr Denihan also said that he was hopeful that the thousands of people whose supply was interrupted by Storm Barney overnight would have power back by tea-time this evening.
In the meantime, technicians are appealing to the public to stay away from any fallen lines or conductors and to ring the following emergency and faults number: 1850 372 999.
