Today is National Slowdown Day, an initiative operated by gardaí to tackle speeding on the country’s roads.
The initiative will also see gardai targeting speeding drivers over the Bank Holiday weekend and today gardaí are operating additional speed points in locations country wide.
On a local basis garda in Tipperary are urging motorists to be vigilant and slow down on the roads this weekend as fallen leaves and wet conditions provide hazards of their own while additional traffic that is always a feature of bank holiday weekend also increases risks.
