From now on, anyone who wants their penalty points removed will have to apply to fixed Charge Processing Office in Thurles.
The change is coming into effect after the interim comissioner Noirin O’sullivan officially transferred power from top-ranking gardai, who have lost the power to delete points.
The move comes after allegations of corruption within the penalty points system.
