It is being reported that more than 32,000 people have an interest in joining the garda force as the training college prepares to begin taking new recruits next year.
it is expected that around 100 recruits will be admitted to the college at intervals of three months with the process due to begin next summer. More details should be revealed by the Justice Minister tomorrow.
It is believed that the resumption of the recruitment process, which was suspended in 2009, aims to ensure that garda levels nationwide do not fall below 13,000. At present numbers are thought to be in the region of 13,100
