Tipperary landowners are urged to report any suspected outbreak of the killer ash dieback as the first case in the county is recorded.
The location of the home-grown infected hedgerow is not revealed but it comes just weeks after a similar case was identified in Leitrim.
Most of the other incidents of the disease were from imported ash.
Junior Agriculture Minister and Tipperary TD Tom Hayes says farmers and other landowners must be extremely vigilant.
