Tipperary TD and Junior Minister at the Department of Agriculture Tom Hayes has sought a meeting with Eirgid to discuss their proposals relating to the Grid Link project in South Tipperary.
According to Deputy Hayes, the 400 kilovolt overhead line will link Leinster and Munster with Eirgrid identifying a number of route corridor options and substation zones.
One of the proposed corridors takes in parts of South Tipperary from Carrick on Suir just south of Cahir, north of Burncourt across the Mitchelstown Caves and from there via Ballyporeen across the Kilworth mountain just west of Arraglen.
The South Tipperary TD noted that people in the areas proposed to be affected may have concerns at the prospect of 13-storey high pylons being constructed in the areas and as such he has sought this meeting with Eirgrid to address those concerns.
He will also meet with local representatives after that meeting
