Fine Gael TD Tom Hayes has called on the banks to put in place a short term credit facility for farmers to help them through the current fodder crisis.
If made available to farmers the local TD believes that it would allow them to repay short term loans over 3 years and allow them access to much needed fodder immediatly.
He feels the call he is making is necessary as, over the weekend he has met with many farmers who have told him they simply cannot get credit facilities to enable them to purchase the fodder which is being imported
