It has been announced that an agreement has been reached between Thurles town council and St Patrick’s College for the acquisition of eight acres of land for a town park.
An additional two acres will be acquired at the rear of the college for a possible relief road which would link from Erin Foods onto the Mill Road.
According to the Mayor of Thurles Michael Cleary, this would help the traffic flow for the town in general.
The next stage is for a design team to be put in place and for planning to be applied for with the hope that the park will be ready in the next few years.
Speaking to Tipperary Mid West Radio Cllr Cleary said that the provision of a town park has been planned for a number of years.
