Minister Alan Shatter has today officially announced the redeployment of 25 administrative staff in Tipperary to the Garda vetting unit.
The staff affected are currently working at the Department of Agriculture offices in Davis Street Tipperary Town.
However due to a change in work practices in the agriculture sector the staff are being redeployed to the Justice Department’s offices on Rosanna Road in Tipperary Town, which will cater for the garda vetting unit.
There are concerns, however about moving all administritive staff from the agriculture offices as it may stop a service whereby farmers can seek advice from staff.
The news that the jobs are to remain in Tipperary Town has been welcomed by Fine Gael TD Tom Hayes and Independant TD Michael Lowry.
Deputy Hayes told Tipperary Mid West Radio today that staff are continuing talk with management over a number of matters.
