South Tipperary’s roads funding

The additional funding for roads received by South Tipperary County Council last year will not come out of this year's roads budget, Minister Alan Kelly has announced.

An extra €837,542 was given to the local authority last year following extensive damage caused by frequent flooding.  At the time it was agreed that the money would be cut from this year's budget.

However, Mr Kelly has today confirmed that his will no longer be the case and South Tipperary's Road's funding will be restored to its original 2013 level.  The money will also be used to complete the Fethard Road railway bridge.

While the overall level of funding for roads is reduced nationally, he has said that both North and South Tipperary are doing very well in the national picture.
