Independent TD Seamus Healy and other members of the Workers and Unemployed Action Group are planning to hold a demonstration to coincide with the centenary celebrations of the Labour Party in Clonmel.
The celebrations will take place in the Hotel Minella next Sunday, ahead of Wednesday's budget, which Deputy Healy claims will see an attack on low and middle income earners.
He has referred in particular to reports that child benefit will be cut, as will the period of entitlement to unemployment, while, he notes, there is no plan to increase income tax on those earning €100,000 or more per year.
The protest will be held outside the hotel as the Labour Party event takes place.
