South Tipperary County Councillor Michael Fitzgerald has said today that there was nothing to support claims that €100 household charge will increase to €1,000 or more next year.
He added that the government's handling of the issue did little to persuade people otherwise.
Cllr. Fitzgerald was speaking of the way in which the government has handled the issue of the household charge saying that many things could have been done better in relation to clarifying issues for the public'.
He said that if a better campaign to explain the finer details of the charge were embarked upon it might have avoided this kind of uncertainty and speculation.
